Obscure game day?

Nobody really cares so it shall be cancelled.

Sad delays.

OGD will be delayed because it is my birthday tomorrow and I am tired. So I will put it back up when time permits. Have an awesome weekend anyway folks!

OBCSCURE GAME DAY!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNND we have another obscure game day! Aren’t you all lucky! I say today we move away from the handhelds and go back to the console! Keeping in my collection (or rather was a part of my collection till an unfortunate accident) We bring in the legendary and campy FPS of old,

“Timesplitters: Future Perfect!”

An awesome game for the Gamecube/Xbox/PS2! Being the 3rd in the Timesplitters series, it does pull from the previous games but you may enjoy this without playing the previous titles (Timesplitters 1 is not very good and Timesplitters 2 is good but has less character than the 3rd one.)

The story is rich, wonderful and hilarious! Following Sgt. Cortez as he returns from space with the time crytals (continuing TS2) he comes back to the marine base and is ordered to into the past to attempt to stop the evil time traveling aliens “timesplitters.” Going through many time periods varying from 1942 to even 2401! Teaming up with many diverse characters that each have their own distinct and awesome personalities as well as top-notch voice work! You travel through time back and forth trying to find the source of the timesplitters and if they are actually aliens or something more…. *AHEM* no spoilers!  Being in many different time periods allows for a large and varying arsenal that ranges from your standard pistols and machineguns to harpoon guns and bricks to even futuristic weapons like the MAG-charger and time disruptor grenades! All these weapons and even more multiplayer exclusive weapons are available in the MASSIVE multiplayer mode!

How large is the multiplayer? First, it has 12 multiplayer modes to choose from, 15 maps to choose from (and a extensive mapmaker with HUGE potential and possibilities all left to your imagination! Even better than Halo’s forge mode,) and 150 selectable characters… YEAH 150 CHARACTERS! That’s how timesplitters rolls! Each of those 150 are so goddamn unique that I can’t even list all the humans, zombies, robots, mythical creatures, soldiers, monkeys,  and other…. things? (Gingerbread Man, Snowman, The Shoal, Cypriss, etc……) And each even shows a bit of personality when picked! :D The mapmaker is the one that truly amazes (seeing how far ahead of its time it was.) Allowing for complete construction from the ground up (including the ground itself!) Throw in online play and you will never be bored!

Even when not in multiplayer you can play the vast variety of the games multiplayer in “Arcade mode.” A mode that pits you against the computer in interesting and unique circumstances as well as changing the modes (virus, leech, capture the bag, etc…) and allowing you to unlock more things like characters and cheats (modifiers!)

I could talk about multiplayer all day but we must move on! I will move onto the music! Being a wonderful combination of epic orchestrated tracks, catchy synthesized tracks, dark horror tracks, retro tracks that fit into the time period or map and even the immortal music that returns from the classic games! Oh and I simply must include “Like a Monkey!”

Why? BECAUSE I LIKE IT!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcT0SlivVQw&feature=related

Epic multiplayer music when everyone is a monkey (or zombie/robot/ninja monkey.)

I can’t say anything bad about this game at all! IT GOES ONTO MY LIST OF OFFICIAL PERFECT GAMES!!! (No pun intended, it really is perfect.)

There are rumors of a “Timesplitters 4” in the works but only time will tell.

Ah yes and now we move onto favorites! (My favorite part hurr hurr hurr.)

There are so many damn characters I think I’ll split it by mode!

Story mode favorite? R-110 all the way!

Being a robotic enemy that Cortez jumps onto like a madman and reprograms, R-110 has a standard emotionless personality UNTIL… The 2nd level that he is your partner he overrides the security by going into the system himself but is affected by a virus. This virus gives him a gung-ho “YIPPIE KAY YAY MOTHERFUCKERS!” attitude that simply makes him the best!

In multiplayer? Lol I love using “The Shoal!”

Yeah you see that right! The Shoal is a telepathic whale that controls fish and a dolphin to do his bidding (outside of water by some miracle no less.) The pun he makes when you pick him seals the deal in my book! “Tonight, you sleep with the fishes…”

My favorite map is VR of course! Virtual Reality!

Mapmaker has a tile set of VR as well. The music meant for here is decent but in this game you can pick any music you want….. “Like a monkey, like a monkey, like a monkey…”

Yeah this is a perfect game. Yeah you should go buy it. And yes I need to find another copy. BUT GODDAMNIT I LOVE THIS GAME!

That does it for OGD! One of the few perfect games has been shown and next time I think I may move away from my personal collection, but we shall see! Remember to drop any obscure games you think need some love in my ask box and mention its for OGD!

Have an awesome day everyone! Time to split!

OBSCURE GAME DAY!!!

Sorry for the delay. Was behind on some homework but now we’re back on track!

Pulling again from my personal collection we have another obscure DS game (There are ALOT) we have the rhythm fighting game Draglade!

Mixing the elements of a fighting game, a music game and even a bit of RPG, is the fun and unique game of Draglade! The story of Draglade takes place in a post-modern setting where the world’s primary source of power is a form of energy called “Matter.” A piece of technology called a G-Con is capable of absorbing Matter and transforming it into a physical object. A weapon conjured by this means is called a Glade, which can emit a distinct sound when colliding with other objects. During the era that the events of Draglade take place, fighting using Glades is the world’s most popular sport, called “Grapping.” The story follows four characters on their own individual quests become professional Grappers. The main story only has four but there are nine playable characters in total. Each one has their own unique attack moves in accordance with their weapon and each character also has a unique element which they have affinity to but any character can use custom special attacks called “bullets.” Bullets are collected throughout the game and can be switched out from the main menu or the overworld map. One thing that is only in Draglade is the beat combo! A unique combination of attacks that makes a short melody or tune as it hits. As you progress you also unlock “Phat beats” for each character. A Phat Beat is pretty much a super move similar to street fighter.

Here is a video showing the Phat Beats.

This game is all over the place! In the main story you level up as you gain experience and become stronger until you beat the game with that character. There are four in the main story but you can unlock more to use in Vs. mode and CPU battle mode and can customize all characters colors and bullets freely! Each character has a lot of….. character! Seriously though, the dialogue in game has each character showing how they are as well as how they develop in-game.

There was also a sequel called “Custom Beat Battle: Draglade 2”

but sadly it never came out in America and as such, is not even in english. At least we still have the first one!

This game is a bit hard to find a copy of but is well worth it! It is usually under 15 dollars so it won’t break your wallet in half should you be lucky enough to find it.

As for favorites in this game, my favorite character is the water elemental pirate… Kyle!

His story is him trying to pay off the debt his stupid father ended up owing a different pirate gang run by a little girl. Yeah you read that right. But his carefree demeanor makes him the best in my book! As well as being the only one to laugh in the face of every impossible enemy that comes before him!

That’s about it for this OGD! Maybe I should keep this schedule? We’ll see where life takes us! Remember you can always request for me to feature a game through my ask box! Just mention its for OGD somewhere and its all good!

Have an awesome night everyone!

Edit: Forgot to mention the online mode! Pretty simple, play against others through Nintendo Wi-fi connection! The conditions are a little different than a Vs. game but you should just see for yourselves.

OBSCURE GAME DAY!!!

Almost got too caught up in Phoenix Wright hype! Don’t worry my obscure games continue!

Picking again from my personal collection today we have a lesser known (and pretty old) DS game. Meteos!

An awesome action puzzle game where planets wage war against an entity that threatens all planetary life! A very fun puzzle game that not only has unique and awesome puzzle gameplay but also has you fighting against other planets (players/CPUs).

The best part is that there are several planets to play as and each has its own attributes. Each planet has unique screen size, gravity, meteo elements, launching ability, and of course… THE MUSIC!

The music in game changes depending on your actions. As an example I have this video from youtube of my favorite planet Firim! (This is a japanese version on an emulator but the game is in english too)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NknNr3R6UWU&feature=related

It is a GREAT game but sadly has not received a true sequel. There have been 2 spin-offs. Meteos Disney Magic

(Which lost the original gameplay and is a totally different game)

And Meteos Wars.

(Which had the same awesome gameplay but music that isn’t bad but just isn’t as good as the original)

As for favorites in this game, I will say my favorite planet is Firim!

A fiery planet with light gravity and awesome rock music to keep you at a neckbreaking pace that truly is intense and AWESOME!

This game can also usually be found at bargain prices at game stores everywhere (or Ebay) so go pick this up today!

That wraps up OGD for today but hey its not over! Every other day a new one will be posted!

PS: If there is a game you want featured or think is an awesome obscure game more people need to know about, then feel free to drop it in my ask box. (also make sure to say somewhere that its for OGD so I know what its for)

Have an awesome day everyone!
